Building Swim Fitness for All Ages

Achieving swimming success in triathlon - whether you’re a seasoned age-grouper or a junior just starting out - comes down to two key ingredients: consistency and confidence.

Many triathletes ease off swimming during the off-season, but swim fitness fades faster than running or cycling. To maintain your feel for the water and aerobic base, even just two short sessions a week can make a difference. Tailor your swim training throughout the year: winter sessions often focus on technique and drills, while spring and summer introduce more speed and endurance work.

But it’s not just about the adults. We’re also committed to developing the next generation of triathletes. Our swim programmes are built on fun, fundamentals, and long-term development. Sessions focus on technique over distance, with age-appropriate drills and games that boost water confidence and body awareness. No pressure, just progress.

Whether you’re 12 or 52, the message is the same: showing up regularly beats cramming. Athletes who swim week in, week out - even when motivation dips - see the biggest improvements in efficiency, stamina, and enjoyment.

Coach’s Tip: Treat swimming like brushing your teeth - something you do no matter what. Even a shorter session is better than skipping it. Progress comes from the habit, not perfection.
